Who in your community can speak with credibility, knowledge, and personal experience about partnering with your local Tribal Nation(s)?
What resources and programs already exist in your county for Indigenous and Native peoples?
How are these resources connected to homeless services? How are they disconnected?
Do you have a Title V, Indian Health Services Contract Clinic in your area?
What resources exist in your county specifically for Native and Indigenous peoples? Who are the main points of contact for these resources?
Are there any that are YYA specific?
Actions to Consider:
System mapping with relevant, credible, and knowledgeable stakeholders about how a YYA would connect to homeless services.
Meet with your local Coordinated Entry Lead about their partnership and outreach history with your
Educate yourself and your team about your Local Tribal Nation by paying for Local Tribal Nation representatives to talk to and train your team. Be prepared with questions and to clearly articulate the goals of your work.
Ask Indigienous young people what they think about this question, and how they would go about answering it. Who would they talk to? What questions would they have? What do they think is working/not working? Get support from your local Youth Advisory Board.
